Not everyone can give money, and money is not the only thing our programs run on. Here are five other ways people help us keep young people in Kibera in school, in training and well.
Give your time. Our Safe Talk Spaces, mentorship pairs and training classes all depend on volunteers who show up at the same time every week. A few hours a month, kept reliably, is worth more than a big one-off.
Give a skill. If you can teach photography, editing, design, bookkeeping, first aid or how to run a small business, we can put you in front of young people who want to learn it. Sessions can be in person or online.
Give equipment. Working laptops, cameras, phones with good cameras and reliable data are the tools of our creative skills training, and we never have enough. Second-hand and working is perfect.
Give a door. Businesses that offer attachments, internships or a first job to our graduates change the whole point of the training. If you employ people, talk to us about taking on one trainee.
Give a mention. Share our posts, tell your church or workplace about us, or introduce us to one person who should know we exist. Many partnerships start with someone simply speaking about us.
If any of these fits you, write to info@kibrayouthnetwork.org and tell us what you can offer. We will find the place where it does the most good.
